    Our story began in 1961 when J.E. Horne acquired the old Dixie Ford Dealership and launched Horne Motor Company on Buncombe Street in downtown Greenville. Renowned for mentoring those entering the automobile industry in South Carolina, Mr. Horne was a respected figure in the field.

    In May 1966, Mr. Foster McKissick II took over Mr. Horne's stake, and the dealership was rebranded as Fairway Ford, Inc. The following year, the company expanded by purchasing an eight-and-a-half-acre tract on Laurens Road. By May 1967, Fairway Ford moved into a new, state-of-the-art facility that was widely regarded as one of the best in the area. This move spurred remarkable sales and growth, with Louis Williamson, a former employee of Mr. Horne, becoming president and playing a key role in the dealership's success.
